About the Author/Owner of Indigenous Landscapes LLC

Myself, staring at a Catalpa seedling

Have you ever wondered who's behind Indigenous Landscapes LLC? This for-purpose business was created by a Cincinnati, Ohio born and raised 23 year old back in 2013. My name is Solomon Doe, formerly known as Solomon Gamboa. Most of my knowledge comes from independent field studying in prairies, wetlands, forests, neighborhoods, and degraded environments. My knowledge also comes from field experience of designing, installing, and maintaining native prairie/meadow plantings, reforestation projects, and pollinator gardens in the private sector. I gained my invasive plant removal experience through working through my business and previously when I was employed by Cincinnati Parks as a Horticulturist. By cross analyzing 1,000's of acres of ecosystems and their species with soil surveys; I've developed a unique interpretation of how to restore native plants. That field study and field experience is supplemented by interpreting and reviewing ecological research.

One intention of Indigenous Landscapes is promoting Native Plant Agriculture - a path to climate change mitigation and biodiversity recovery. I’d like to help people create Native Plant Agricultural plantings that can one day contribute to native food festivals to help build a market for native plants in our diet. An underlying purpose of this project is to connect people back to nature psychologically through a positive attachment to specifically Native plant foods. With a positive attachment to nature, people tend to care for and act for its protection and restoration.

Another intention of Indigenous Landscapes to provide exceptional education quality to the public about ecology and native plants. I have an annual budget devoted to paying for our educational posts to reach larger audiences, partly to spread the free education, and partly to make people aware of additional Indigenous Landscape’s educational books/resources. To date I've written a Forest Types of SW Ohio and SE Indiana E-Book, a Native Plant Propagation Guide & Nursery Model, Native Plant Agriculture Vol. 1, and Native Meadowscaping - each in consecutive years. As of 2024 I’m working on making these educational resources low to no cost to the public.
